TM MESShow Daily THE OFFICIAL SHOW DAILY NEWS , VI EWS , A N D RE V I EWS F ROM 2012 EV E R Y T H I NG CH A N N E L EV E N T S By Alicia Stein It's been busy in the Big Easy for the CIOs attending the Midsize Enter- prise Summit East this week. They have spent the last few days partici- pating in discussions with their peers, hearing perspectives from analysts about topics ranging from business intelligence to desktop virtualization, and catching up with vendor partners on the issues that are so critical to their companies' success. They'll be leaving this spring's event with some valuable information about how to close their IT demand and sup- ply gap, what to do to actually real- ize their IT modernization agendas, how to create sustainable IT staffing models, and much more. They've also been pleased to learn how well midsize enterprises have made it through tough times, and hopefully energized by all they've seen and heard to prepare them to tackle the challenges that lie ahead. And, as they do at every MES event, they've had an opportunity to weigh in on how prepared vendors are to help them meet their challenges and succeed in their roles. The Midsize Enterprise Summit XCellence Awards give IT leaders a chance to vote for the ven- dors they believe should be honored for outstanding performance – for exceptional products, programs and technologies that can be assets to any midsize enterprise team. Before casting their votes, the IT execs paid close attention to dozens of vendors discussing their value proposi- tions, and weighed all aspects of their presentations. They voted on eleven cat- egories: Best Midmarket Solution in the categories of Hardware, Software and Managed Services; Best Execution of a Midmarket IT Solution; Best Demon- stration of ROI; Most Innovative Tech- nology Vendor; Best Midsize Enterprise Summit Newcomer; Best Quick Fire Vendor; Best Case Study Presentation; Best Executive Presentation; and the treasured Best of Show award. The XCellence Awards are voted on solely by the attending IT deci- sion-makers, who di- rectly influence their companies' and their peers' technology- buying decisions. The awards were pre- sented to the winners at a gala dinner that was held at the Mid- size Enterprise Sum- mit East. Winners In The Spotlight: Ping Identity (left) was recognized as the Best Quick Fire vendor, while Shoretel (right) won for Best Exection of a Midmarket IT Solution and Best Demonstration of ROI.
